Riddle by B. Schwartz

One of God’s oldest creatures

Try and break me but I bet you cannot

My color varies

I can be smooth or rough

If I fall it’s an unfortunate fate for whoever is catching me

I’m silent amongst nature,

Unless men uses me for hearth or dwelling or weapon

I live everywhere from fields, rivers,

And mountains.

I do not move unless man calls me to.

Figure me out if you can.
